BEPAM conducts theoretical, comparative and applied research in the field of educational sciences in collaboration with other social disciplines, seeking to contribute to the educational theory and practice from an interdisciplinary perspective. In accordance with research findings, it produces policy suggestions for the education system and education institutions. BEPAM establishes a ground that brings together publications and translation studies in the field of educational sciences and education policy, providing a comparative framework to analyze the educational agendas, researches and viewpoints both in Turkey and in the world. For this purpose, it collaborates and works together with the national and international institutions to conduct research and development projects in educational sciences field.

As a research center, BEPAM acknowledges education as a universal right. Embracing such a perspective, it approaches to the practical and political educational issues in Turkey and in the world on an academic basis. It aims to convert the research findings into real politics that can be applied for the benefit of society.

On a multi-disciplinary ground, BEPAM brings together skilled and successful academic researches. It targets to constitute a qualified academic team that have the capacity to execute and carry out qualified researches. It also aims to establish connections among the academic studies, practice and education politics.

BEPAM’s specific purposes are the following:

-Doing theoretical and practical research to encourage educational studies in Turkey to be more interdisciplinary and critical.

-Producing policy suggestions in light with the findings of theoretical, comparative and applied interdisciplinary research.

-Evaluating educational policies and activities from the perspective of human rights

-Doing quality assessment studies on the primary and secondary school institutions, special education and rehabilitation centers; offering policies to enhance the conditions.

-Producing digital contents applicable for the primary and secondary school curriculum; providing the necessary conditions for their practice.

-Conducting research on foreign language education at the level of primary and secondary education and developing alternative models.

-Offering policies and strategies for a reformed university entrance procedure in Turkey; following and evaluating the policy changes in university entrance system and analyzing their effectiveness in order to foster public education.

-Making education statistics more useful, manageable and practicable in terms of their applicability for education policies and research; establishing collaboration with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Education for that particular purpose.

-Constituting visual, written and audial archives in various fields of educational sciences; working on the methods of extracting necessary data for education policy research and analysis.

-Collaborating with organizations and institutions like the Ministry of Education, TÜBİTAK (the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), and various NGOs

–Cooperating with international academic institutions and NGOs like UNESCO and ILO (International Labor Organization) in order to share data and develop projects.

-Contributing to the development of qualified researchers; producing works and publications in scientific journals suitable to the international standards.
